Happy Friday! Does anyone else feel like these week's seem to be flying by but also at the same time they feel like the longest weeks?? Lockdown 3 is a crazy place to be isn't it!
Anyhow, we've been thinking this week about what our favourite things are to cook on the plancha. Obviously dirty smash burgers with all the toppings are right up there but a firm favourite of both our families is the humble toasted sandwich aka the toastie.
When we first started using plancha grills it was one of the first things we wanted to try. We were really excited to try out some slightly fancier fillings such as buffalo mozzarella, ham hock, pesto etc on different handmade breads. To be honest they were all super delicious and they cooked so quickly and evenly on the plancha that it was just like ordering a sandwich from an artisan cafe. There are so many yummy combinations to try that the possibilities are endless!
However, we all agreed that nothing beats the traditional ham and cheese. It's a classic! Obviously you can add some extra flavour if you wish with some mustard or by using some thick cut smoked ham but we found that simple is sometimes best when it comes to toasties.

Another firm favourite is the breakfast toastie. You can use any cooked breakfast items that you prefer but we love a classic fried egg and crispy back bacon one. With a cheeky sausage if the mood takes us!

Friend of Cook Outdoor, and local food blogger Neil Clifton, recently cooked this delicious looking sour dough toastie with cheese and chicken on his plancha grill. Look at that melted cheese!
Ok now I'm starving hungry thinking about these yummy toasties so I'm off to cook some lunch (writing a blog post about food during lunchtime is like food shopping when you're hungry ha ha).
Hope you guys have a lovely weekend!
Bye for now!
